There are 2 big games between ranked teams in the SEC with one being South Carolina hosting Georgia and College Football Spreads has the Gamecocks as 2.5-point home favorites.  The other is Florida and LSU.  However, we are going to summarize the college football spreads of the GameCocks and the Bulldogs.  See below to see what Vegas Sports Cappers College Football Analysis are saying.

College Football Spreads Georgia at South Carolina

If you look at a couple of key trends, which Sports Bettors always do, Georgia is 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against South Carolina and the Gamecocks have covered the spread in their last 5 home games. However, Georgia is a solid 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.  But be careful following the college football spreads tempo on this game.

College Football Spreads – Georgia Offense vs. South Carolina Defense

Georgia has the nation’s 29th ranked passing offense led by QB Aaron Murray, who has passed for 1,370 yards with 12 TD and 3 INT. His main 2 targets are Michael Bennett and Tavarres King each has over 300 receiving yards. Both of these guys are at least 6’1” and may cause problems for the South Carolina secondary. The Gamecocks rank 47th in the nation in pass defense and their pass rush ranks 2nd in the nation with 22 sacks.

The South Carolina offensive line has a tall task in this game, as they have to protect Murray from the daunting pass rush and they must also open up holes for their 11th ranked rushing offense. The Bulldogs have a great rushing attack with RB’s Todd Gurley, who has rushed for over 100 yards in 4 of 5 games this season, and Keith Marshall, who torched Tennessee for 164 rushing yards in Georgia’s last game. South Carolina has the nation’s 7th ranked run defense and they will be tested, big time, in this game.  Be careful parlaying this game in on the college football spreads.

While South Carolina does not have the dynamic offense like Georgia has they are well balanced ranking 60th in the nation in passing yards per game and 57th in rushing yards per game. One thing the Bulldogs have to on D is not allow USC QB Connor Shaw make the big play. The top 2 WR of the Gamecocks have only combined for 21 catches, but Damiere Byrd is averaging 27.3 yards per catch and Bruce Ellington is averaging 17.3 yards per catch. This has to be a concern for the Bulldogs’ pass defense that ranks 56th in the nation.

Georgia’s run defense ranks 57th in the nation and their main goal is to contain RB Marcus Lattimore, who rushed for 120 yards against Kentucky in last week’s win. They also have to worry about Shaw taking off, as he is the 2nd leading rusher with over 200 yards on the ground.  This will affect the college football spreads this weekend.

Last season in a barnburner South Carolina beat Georgia 45-42.

College Football Spreads Offensive Analysis

Head Coach Randy Edsall has only one quarterback in C.J. Brown.  O'Brien the other quatrerback went to Wisconsin.  Brown was not as talented as O'Brian.  He is a much better runner though.  His agility will help the College Football Spreads for the Terps to cover the NFL Expert Picks.  The junior quarterback saw action in 10 games and he rushed for 574 yards.  This was the single-season school record for a quarterback.

Running back Justus Pickett intends on being much more aggressive, but he faces competition from much bigger Brandon Ross who is a redshirt freshman.  Freshmen Wes Brown is a pass-catching threat.  The receiving core includes senior leaders Kevin Dorsey who led the team in catches and Kerry Boykins who is a third down receiver.

Returning two-year starter Matt Furstenburg makes the tight end position a real strength.  But the main factor is how quickly true freshman wide receiver Stefon Diggs who is the school's first 5 star recruit in the last five years, is able to make an impact.  The line was showing real improvement last year, only to see two starting tackles transfer.  This only left two starters Bennett Fulper and Josh Cary.

Look for the terps to have trouble covering the college football spreads on their game.  Their young offense will not be reliable, so be careful making the college football picks against the college football lines to trend the Terps way.

The Defense Analysis For The Terps Future College Football Spreads

Maryland's defense was terrible they allowed more than 34 points per game.  The team returns seven starters but players must adapt to an 3-4 scheme installed by new coordinator Brian Stewart.  He was a former coordinator with the University of Houston and the Dallas Cowboys.  Second-team All American Joe Vellano led the FBS in tackles by a lineman.  He averaged 7.8 tackles per game.  He could dominate at the end slot.  He should help the college football spreads trend to the under of the college football money lines on the Terps games.  Maryland's two great defensive ends in Keith Bowers who is an ALL-ACC performer and Andre Monroe a Freshman All-American who collected a team-high five sacks in nine games.

With Isaiah Ross back from injury, depth should be no issue.  Among the only positives that emerged from the defense's injury-prone season were that a slew of freshmen saw significant play last year.  Linebacker Kenny Tate was granted a medical red-shirt year to return for a final season following his terrible knee injury.  At safety Tate has the speed to play in the backfield and the size to play linebacker.

Future College Football Spreads Final Analysis

Coach Edsall tried to put last season behind him.  He had one of the worst seasons of any college coach in recent memories.  His decision to replace both coordinators was met with very happy fans who were very frustrated last year.  He brought back offensive coordinator Mike Locksley who installed a pro-style offense and helped the Coach haul in a fantastic recruiting class.  Edsall will need to lean on promising freshman play makers to navigate a schedule and win back his fans during a critical second season.

College Football Spreads Offense Analysis On VA Tech

Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas shows now that the Hokies have to replace eight of their starters including four offensive linemen and two all-time leading receivers.  This is also along with the beast running back David Wilson who was the ACC player of the year.  David Wilson helped cover the college football spreads with his abilities.  Thomas has no problem in missing Wilson.  He set the school's single-season total yard record with 3,482, and 30 TD's.

It's the rest of the offense that has it's problems particularly an offensive line that has no experience.  The only linemen that return this season is Center Andrew Miller and left tackle Nick Becton.  The rest will be an inexperienced group of players.  Three veteran wide-outs return including Marcus Davis who could be a number one receiver.  Freshman Michael Holmes will replace Wilson at running back.  Look for Va Tech not cover their College football spreads this year due to losing many players in the offense this year.

College Football Spreads Break Down on Va Tech's Defense

Virginia Tech has eight starters coming back on defense.  Bud Foster who is the defensive coordinator is hoping his defense can get back to the glory days of 2005 and 2006.  Those years, the Hokies led the nation in total yards.  A great defensive line helps.  The Hokies led the league with 41 sacks last year and they return everyone including All-ACC defensive ends James Gayle and J.R Collins.  They also have the huge Hopkins brothers, Derrick and Antoine at defensive tackles.  Virginia Tech has a lot of injuries at linebackers with Bruce Taylor, Tarig Edwards and Jeron Winslow.  They are going to be limited in their playing time.  But all three are expected to be ready to play this season.  If either Taylor or Edwards isn't ready to play, Jack Tyler, a one time walk on has filled in very well for the last two years.

Virginia Tech moved around the secondary.  They moved safety Antone Exum to cornerback to pair up with Kyle Fuller.  They switched corners Detrick Bonner and Kyshoen Jarret to the safety spots.  They are expected to be more affective.  Virginia Tech is very thin in its secondary.  One injury would create major problems.  The Hokies blocked only one punt last year and really struggled with both punting and kick returns.  This is something the Hokies have been working hard at fixing.  Look for the college football lines to be trending low before placing your college football picks.

Final College Football Spreads Va Tech Analysis

Frank Beamer has been coaching Va Tech for 25 years.  He has 209 victories and 19 straight bowl appearances. He should get the Hokies back to a Bowl game this year.  The Hokies will be in contention in the ACC again with a team formula that has worked for years.  Georgia Tech will challenge in the Coastal Division.  Clemson and Florida State will likely enter as the favorites to win the conference title;  but Virginia Tech has proven it can overcome those odds before.  They won four ACC titles in eight years.
